Manufacturers require your equipment to be inspected on an annual basis or the warranty can be void. This especially applies to items like ceiling or wall hung basketball systems. All attachment points must be checked, cables inspected for wear, pulleys must be in line and functioning properly. Keeping up with gymnasium equipment can be a difficult task.  The CSA provides standards for many products used in sport facilities (basketball backstops, divider curtains and bleachers), leaving many facilities to manage this on their own.  This can be quite the burden to an already stretched-thin facility manager, maintenance supervisor, or anyone else that may be responsible for maintaining such equipment. As we are all aware, doing maintenance on anything you purchase prevents large, unexpected expenses later on.  This extends to your sports floor.  You spent a lot of money to have a beautiful floor that has features built into it for top performance for your athletes.  In order to extend the life of that expense, you should take proper care of it.  GAMEDAY will come to your gymnasium and examine your facility and help decide what is the best schedule and plan of action for your floors. This maintenance can be done over a long weekend with light traffic on the floor for a few days after.  

Gameday Sport Services will sand the gym floor down to raw wood using our Ryder Sander with Heavy-duty vacuum fan and high filtration dust bag that provide efficient dust recovery. Using this Dual Head 12” sander we will return the floor to a smooth finish by going through the sanding grits.  Finishing with our 3DS for the ultimate finish.  Our 3DS Orbital Sander outperforms the competition with three rotating discs that provide cross-grain sanding and efficient dust control. We then “Tack” or clean the floor with push brooms, towels and water. After laying out the basketball keys and the volleyball court, we are prepared for stain. Then, tack the floor again and coat the floor twice. Now it's time to abrade the floor with the 3DS Orbital sander to get a flawless finish.  At this point we begin to apply game lines to the floor as instructed.  Once all the game lines are taped out and then painted, we clean up any paint spills, paint bleeds or blemishes in the floor.  We will again tack the floor once all this is complete and apply THREE coats of water-based gymnasium flooring finish (2 coats of finish is industry standard).  We do this in 2 stages, coat the floor once, then again use our 3DS orbital sander to knock down any last fibers standing up, then tack.  We will then double coat the floor allowing each coat sufficient time to cure. After drying, we apply baseboards, pull tape and clean.
